The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced that the first report from the Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector (ACCS) has now been released and is available here.

The ACCS’ recommendations come after months of meetings, and consultations with the charitable sector. This report was delivered as part of the ACCS’ mandate to advance emerging issues relating to charities, and ensure that the regulatory environment supports the important work that charities do.

The report includes an update on the ACCS’ priorities, which include:

  1. Examining the regulatory approach to charitable purposes and activities
  2. Modernizing the regulatory framework in Government as it relates to the charitable sector
  3. Supporting the work of charities serving vulnerable populations
  4. Exploring charity-related regulatory and legislative issues faced by Indigenous Peoples and organizations
  5. Improving data collection and analysis related to the charitable sector
