According to a recent Ipsos study commissioned by HomeEquity Bank, the Sandwich Generation – Canadians aged 25 to 65 – is experiencing a caregiving crunch. The research sheds light on the generational concerns in relation to caregiving and its impact on career progression, financial stability, and personal well-being. 

Key findings from the study:

  • 67% of Canadians aged 25-65 expressed concerns that caregiving responsibilities will impact their career progression.
  • 66% of Canadians aged 25-65 fear it will affect their ability to remain employed. 
  • 76% of Canadians aged 25-65 anticipate that their caregiving responsibilities will impact their work hours. 
  • 61% of Canadians aged 25-65 are concerned about the emotional strain of caring for their children and supporting their parents.
  • 60% of Canadians aged 25-65 have a plan to alleviate some of the financial pressures related to caregiving.
