The Charity Insights Canada Project (CICP) published insights into the financial health and the funding outlook for the Canadian charitable sector. According to the research, 25% of charities expect their financial position at the end of 2025 to be positive, with a projected surplus. Meanwhile, 41% of charities project that they will break-even and expect that their revenues and expenses will be roughly equal by the end of 2025, and 31% of charities are projecting a deficit at the end of 2025.
Survey Highlights:
- 15% of charities expect funding to increase in 2026.
- 53% of charities expect funding to stay about the same in 2026.
- 21% expect funding to decrease in 2026.
- 31% of charities are very confident in their ability to cover core operating costs in 2025, 37% noted somewhat, and 13% noted somewhat unconfident.
