Canada boasts one of the largest nonprofit sectors globally, with more than 170,000 organizations that work alongside governments to transform communities, strengthen social infrastructure, and create a brighter future for Canadians. The time has come to recognize the nonprofit professionals who have dedicated their careers to the sector.
The national organizations advocating for the Nonprofit Day of Appreciation include the following: Imagine Canada, Community Foundations of Canada, United Way Centraide Canada, The Philanthropic Foundations of Canada, Volunteer Canada and the Bhayana Family Foundation. The CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce has endorsed this advocacy, along with support from other organizations, including TD Bank, Capacity Canada, Definity Insurance Foundation, Inspirit Foundation, Laidlaw Foundation and YWCA, amongst many others.
Sign the petition to help call upon the House of Commons to officially recognize the third Thursday of February as the Canada Day of Appreciation for the Nonprofit Sector to celebrate the people and organizations that drive economic and social change, and build the social infrastructure to ensure the well-being and vitality of communities across Canada.
