The Charity Insights Canada Project (CICP) published insights into equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the Canadian charitable sector. According to the research, 75% of participating charities indicated that EDI is actively integrated into their operations (either fully or partially), while 12% noted that EDI is acknowledged in their values but is lacking concrete action, and 5% of participating charities reported having limited or no formal commitment to EDI.

Top areas of EDI application:

  1. Programs and service delivery  (70%)
  2. Hiring, retention, and HR practices (62%) and organizational policies (60%)
  3. Governance (55%) and communications (48%)
  4. Volunteer recruitment and partnerships (42%)
  5. Data collection (22%) and funding allocation (21%)

Meanwhile, 7% of respondents reported no EDI application in any area of their organizations.
