The Government of Canada has launched a call for proposals for community-based projects through the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP). This federal grant program provides funding for projects that empower seniors in their communities through increased social inclusion.

Program objectives:

  • Promoting volunteering among seniors and other generations
  • Engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others
  • Expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse
  • Supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors
  • Providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or programs for seniors

Funding amount: Community-based projects are eligible to receive up to $50,000 for a project that is up to 1 year in duration

Application deadline: July 14, 2026 at 3:00 pm, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

Who can apply: Not-for-profit organizations, Indigenous organizations, municipal governments
