Helping Hands is running a new Volunteer 120 Program, funded by the Canada Service Corps, for Canadian youth aged 15-29. In this program, youth may be matched to a long-term volunteer opportunity where they can gain valuable experience, skills, and long-term connections that can help them in their careers. This program comes with *financial support for volunteer-related costs, as well as tailored mentorship specific to needs and interests. All program participants can receive recognition and a certificate of completion.

Volunteer 120 Program (now through March 2027) entails…

  1. Free volunteer matching services for 100 youth participants to volunteer service placement(s) to fulfill 120 hours of community involvement.
  2. Training sessions and mentorship provided by Helping Hands (which also counts towards the 120 hours) for youth participants.
  3. *Financial aid provided to youth by Helping Hands to help them participate in this program (volunteer-related costs such as Vulnerable sector screening, 2-Step Tuberculin test, and more).
  4. Youth participants can gain valuable experience, recognition, and long-term connections from this program.
  5. Free career skills-building workshops (ex., resume-writing) and mentoring (school, career, volunteer-related).

* Reimbursement is dependent on funding available.

Eligibility:

  • Reside in Ontario, Canada.
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or has been granted refugee status in Canada as part of this program’s eligibility requirements.
  • Aged 15–29 years old at the time of signing up for this program.

Youth will receive the following from the program:

  • In-person event to receive the certificate of your accomplishment (being able to travel to Toronto is required).
  • Receive support to cover some costs of volunteering, if applicable (ex., Vulnerable sector screenings, public transit, 2-Step Tuberculin tests, uniform, etc.).
  • Any 1-on-1 meetings with Helping Hands after being onboarded.
  • Support in developing career skills (ex., resume feedback and workshops).
  • Volunteer progress tracking and feedback.
  • Gain valuable experience and build your network through volunteering.
  • Celebrate your achievements with other youth in the program.
