Robert Half published new research based on a survey of more than 1500 Canadian professionals, which found that over a quarter (26%) of professionals plan to look for a new job in the second half of the year, which is down from 38% 6 months ago. Based on the research, Gen Z (36%), millennials (30%), and professionals in tech (38%), marketing and creative (29%), and HR (29%) are the most likely to search for a new job in the next six months. The study delved into worker sentiment to determine the highest motivators for workers seeking to change jobs and found that better benefits and perks are the highest motivator (39%), followed by higher pay (38%), and opportunities for career advancement (38%).
The research investigated the interest in contract work, and discovered that more than 7 in 10 job seekers are interested in leaving their permanent job to pursue contract work. According to the study, the top motivators for job seekers interested in a career in contracting are higher earning potential (49%), greater variety of work (40%), and improved work-life balance (39%).
