Since 2015, Unfunded List has helped demystify philanthropy by reviewing unfunded grant proposals and delivering thoughtful, expert feedback to proposal authors. Their mission is to illuminate the path for changemakers who hear “no” too often, and never hear why. Unfunded List is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that provides professional, candid feedback to grant proposals. While they are US-based, they receive submissions from all over the globe, including Canadian organizations. Their volunteer-driven Evaluation Committee, which includes many Canadians, includes grantmakers, nonprofit professionals, writers, researchers, and policy experts, all ready to help social innovators sharpen their proposals and move closer to funding.
Unfunded List delivers thoughtful and candid reviews from multiple perspectives. They have reviewed over 1,300 proposals across sectors. From refugee support to the arts, they have helped authors refine messages, improve funding strategies, and ultimately raise more money. In fact, 87% of the organizations they review raise more within five years (213% more!).
