The Charities Aid Foundation published the World Giving Report, which reveals key trends and challenges facing the sector. The report is based on a study of the landscape for social purpose organizations in 27 countries globally. According to the study, the three main sources of funding for charities globally include individual donations (82%), funding from non-government funders (73%), and funding from businesses (70%).

The Charities Aid Foundation notes that the top three challenges facing social purpose organizations include financial sustainability (62%), increased competition for funding (32%), and the balance of restricted vs. unrestricted funding (16%). According to the research, the secondary challenges facing charities include increasing costs (29%), hiring and maintaining a strong team (24%), meeting the demand for services (19%), and making the most of technology (12%).
