the Nonprofit Chamber published The Change Starts with Us: 2025 State of the Sector Report, which provides a comprehensive overview of the nonprofit sector in Alberta and provides recommendations for improvement. The report notes that Alberta nonprofits continue to face challenges spotlighted in last year’s report: rising demand, staff retention, financial instability, and burnout. Despite the fact that survey data shows growing optimism in the sector’s 12-month outlook, possibly linked to easing inflation.
The Government of Alberta, in collaboration with the Nonprofit Chamber, worked to merge sub-sector data with their provincial nonprofit listing, resulting in a Data Dashboard. The dashboard visualizes the work being conducted across the province, and can be leveraged to determine where communities may need more support. According to the Nonprofit Chamber, individual nonprofits can leverage this dashboard to show where their work connects with others nearby and across the province, and highlight where communities may need more support. While at a higher level, better data can help the sector more effectively demonstrate impact, identify gaps, and guide conversations on funding, workforce development, and policy priorities.
