Good Works is excited to bring you this totally free, all-Canadian report once again—built from real campaign data submitted by 43 participating charities across the country.
After 2024’s postal strike taught us what happens when direct mail disappears, 2025 showed us what’s possible when we lean back into it. Nearly every key performance indicator improved this year, with organizations that increased their mail volume seeing real results. But the data tells a more complicated story than steady growth numbers suggest.
Curious about what’s inside? Here are a few takeaways:
- Renewal rates jumped to 55.6% (up from 53.1%), showing that when donors are engaged, they stay loyal—even during disruption. Hospital foundations led the way with an impressive 76.5% renewal rate.
- While response rates fell in the house file, renewal rates rose from 53% to 56% this year. We suspect this is mainly due to the strike impacting donors’ giving behaviour in both the 2024 and 2025 data sets.
- Multi-channel donors continue to be more valuable, giving more (with an average gift of $131 vs. mail-only at $113) and more often.
