TD published the 2026 TD AI Insights Report, which was developed based on an Ipsos survey of 2,501 Canadians aged 18 and older. The findings convey that amid growing pressures to adopt AI in the workplace, 32% of Canadians have overstated their AI abilities. With employers increasing their expectations and employees feeling the pressure to be more fluent in AI, there is a confidence gap, with only 4% of respondents rating themselves an “A” in AI skills, while the majority (75%) rate themselves a “C” or lower.

Key insights:

  • Only 37% say they’ve received adequate AI training from their employer on using AI at work.
  • Over half (59%) say AI makes them more productive at their job.
  • Boomers are the most likely to say AI adoption in the workplace is inevitable at 89%, ahead of Gen X (81%), Millennials (79%) and Gen Z (65%).
  • Over half (53%) of respondents say their workplace is lagging behind others when it comes to the adoption of AI.
