The Charities Directorate is modernizing services for the charitable sector. According to the CRA, this initiative includes leveraging advancements in technology and digitization, and represents an important step that complements their ongoing modernization efforts. The CRA will be working closely with the charitable sector in the coming year to help with the transition to online services. The objective is to have all registered charities and registered national arts service organizations file their complete Form T3010, Registered Charity Information Return, online beginning in 2027.

If you are not currently using the CRA’s online services to submit documents and enquiries, you will need to set up an account so that you can file your next T3010 online through your CRA account or CRA-certified software.

How to prepare:

  • Make sure your registered charity has an up-to-date account with the CRA, including those who can access your charity account such as directors, trustees, and like officials, or authorized representatives.
  • Review your charity’s internal filing processes, including who will be responsible for completing the online annual return, so you can make sure they have access.
  • Become familiar with the online platform ahead of your filing deadline using the resources below.
