Presented in partnership with CharityVillage, the presenting sponsor of National Philanthropy Day 2025.
The power of philanthropy lies in its ability to connect people, amplify generosity, and spark meaningful change. This November, that power will be centre stage at AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter’s 2025 National Philanthropy Day celebration — an annual gathering that honours individuals and organizations who are transforming their communities through giving, leadership, and collaboration.
Taking place on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at LiUNA Station in Hamilton, the event brings together fundraisers, donors, corporate partners, volunteers, and nonprofit leaders from across the region to recognize the outstanding contributions of this year’s honourees. This year’s event is made possible through the support of CharityVillage, returning as the presenting sponsor.
“National Philanthropy Day is one of the most meaningful events of the year for our sector,” say Marla Smith, CFRE Chair, National Philanthropy Day. “It is a chance to lift one another up, to celebrate what is working, and to honour the individuals and organizations that remind us why this work matters.”

Honouring excellence across the Golden Horseshoe
The 2025 award recipients represent a diverse group of changemakers across the Golden Horseshoe who are advancing the spirit of philanthropy in powerful and creative ways. From long-standing philanthropists to up-and-coming fundraisers, this year’s honourees reflect the depth of talent, compassion, and commitment found across the sector.

A celebration of community and connection
This year’s National Philanthropy Day event is expected to welcome over 300 attendees for a lunch-time celebration filled with storytelling, networking, and inspiration. The gathering also serves as a powerful opportunity for sector professionals to connect, reflect, and renew their shared commitment to impact.
To mark the occasion, Niagara Falls will be illuminated on the evening of November 13 in recognition of National Philanthropy Day, a symbolic reminder of the light that philanthropy brings to communities across the region.
Tickets for the event — including individual seats and tables — can be purchased by contacting Sylvie at afpghorseshoe@gmail.com. Early registration is encouraged, as this signature celebration regularly sells out.

Advancing the sector, together
Hosted by the AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter, National Philanthropy Day is part of a global movement led by the Association of Fundraising Professionals to highlight the critical role of philanthropy in civil society. With thousands of members across Canada, AFP works to elevate ethical and effective fundraising practices, provide professional development, and advocate for a strong, inclusive nonprofit sector.
As Smith notes, events like this help reinforce the importance of recognition and reflection.
“Fundraising is often invisible work. But it is vital work. National Philanthropy Day reminds us to pause, to celebrate the wins, and to thank the people who are moving the needle — often quietly, and always with heart.”
